On March 5,
2008, the Indian Navy successfully test-fired the BrahMos missile for the first
time from a destroyer to hit a target on land. The test was conducted off the
coast of Andaman and Nicobar Islands. The BrahMos is a supersonic cruise
missile that can be launched from warships, submarines, vehicles, and aircraft.
