On 16 March 2012, Sachin Tendulkar cemented his legacy as one of cricket’s most complete batters by reaching an exclusive landmark. Widely regarded as the sport’s greatest-ever batter, the Master Blaster is also cricket’s all-time leading scorer.
In the twilight phase of his career, Tendulkar registered a jaw-dropping feat previously deemed near-impossible. He scored his 100th international century while competing in the 2012 Asia Cup.
A
38-year-old Tendukar smashed 114 runs when India faced Bangladesh in the
tournament’s group stage on this day in 2012. It was his 49th ODI
century and, interestingly, only his first against Bangladesh in the 50-over
format. Despite his 114 runs,
India lost as Bangladesh chased the target.
