Global Day to End Child Sexual Abuse is observed annually on April 11 to raise awareness of child sexual abuse and to create a strong community to end it. The day was initiated by 'The Innocence Revolution', an organization founded by Jill Starishevsky and Tom Scales to combat sexual exploitation worldwide.
Global Day to End Child Sexual Abuse was first
observed in 2013 in more than 30 countries and more than half of U.S. states.
At that time, more than 300, 000 children were being sexually abused around the
world every year. Most child sexual abuse victims are under the age of ten. About
one in four girls and one in six boys will experience sexual abuse by the age
of 18.
