In 1890, Malayala Manorama newspaper founded




Malayala Manorama, one of India's oldest and most widely read newspapers, was founded by Kandathil Varghese Mappillai and began publication March 22, 1890.  It was established in Kottayam, Kerala, as a weekly initially, with a mission to bring "sunshine" to Malayalee homes. The newspaper is a staple in Kerala.
